Linda Soh Trengereid
Linda Soh Trengereid is a Norwegian artist, born in South-Korea, living and working in Bergen, Norway. She primarily works in painting and drawing, but also in installation. She works within both the figurative and abstract, and balances precise, clear fields with more blurry fields in her works.
Shadows, blank human figures, and blurred faces trace throughout many of Trengereid’s works. At the same time, the surroundings stand clearer. Those surroundings range from grand, engrossing nature to city-like culturescapes. Trengereid emphasizes this - the blurry and the clear - in her technique, which can be described as a sort of hybrid between painting and drawing where charcoal and paint mix. One might take note of the longing and deprivation in her works; seeing and knowing there are humans present, but not being able to really see, comprehend or embrace them. Their absence creates a sort of ghostlike, mystical feeling.
Trengereid has a Master of Fine Art from Bergen National Academy of the Arts (KMD). She has had several solo exhibitions and numerous group shows. She has done public commissions and is represented in museum, public, and private collections.
