One of four simultaneous exhibitions 27 Oct - 2 Dec 2023 Lina Hashim (b. 1978, Kuwait) works in various mediums such as performance, installation, and photography.
A cornerstone in Hashim’s artistic practice is to investigate and uncover aspects of islam, islamic paradoxes, as sorcery and superstition, unlawful behavior, sexuality and the martyrs' way to paradise. Hashim deals with her work as an insider, and shows us what is normally not visible for someone outside the religious society. At the same time, another cornerstone in Hashim’s practice is a feminist one. She raises questions and discussions regarding women’s rights and place within islam and in the Western world. Marcus Soddano
A dog without a bone 22 Sep - 21 Oct 2023 Marcus Soddano is a painter with large gestures who has an eye for details. He works in various techniques, but in this exhibition exclusively painting is shown. His idiom is figurative, where the expression draws inspiration from a traditional East Asian image universe and contemporary popular culture. The motifs revolve around the old myths and the urban myths of our day. He is closely associated with the Bergen hip-hop scene, and traces of this can be seen in his art. Read more -
Søren Sejr
In the dark the mirror is never black 22 Sep - 21 Oct 2023 Sejr works primarily in a non-figurative visual language, apparently with crystalline and geometric forms as a starting point. The references to the modernist tradition, where exploration of painting as a medium has been dominant, are clearly present. At the same time, his paintings can be understood as a serious play with precisely the modernist tradition and its self-conceit. Read more -
Eamon O'Kane
Fluid Spaces 11 Aug - 16 Sep 2023 Eamon O'Kane's (b. 1974) artworks are glamorous and spectacular in motif, execution and format. His landscapes, skyscapes and poolscapes seem like sumptuous and harmonious compositions; like worlds you would like to step into. They seem alive and vibrant, as if they are real places, although the traces of, for example, brushstrokes and airbrushing are evident. Read more -
