Jan Freuchen: Fugleperspektivet

The exhibition Fugleperspektivet (Bird's eye view) consists of several new series artworks by Jan Freuchen's (1979). Freuchens practice includes a wide array of different media and forms of expressions, where motives are explored through cut-ups and reconfigurations.

Although his work is rooted in the conceptual tradition, the aesthetic and manual aspects are the driving forces in his diverse production. Freuchens works can appear urgent and poignant, addressing ecological and existsial issues – while at the same time retaining a comical and whimsical quality. Freuchen's works can easily be described as an intellectual and visual wonder at humanity in all its complexity. 

The title suggests that he uses a method that is an attempt at analytical distance, knowing that this is an illusion. Like an explorer or social anthropologist, he observes, makes his notes and thoughts, before the discoveries and findings manifest in an exhibition, such as this one.

On display in the exhibition are new ink drawings, textile collages and paintings, as well as the installation Plutos Hule, which is a collaborative project conceived together with Jonas H. Major and Sigurd Tenningen.
